SECOND PHASE OF TRANSFORMER STATION "NIS 8" CONSTRUCTION –
up to the end of 2010

Minister of Energy and Mining, Prof. Dr. Petar Škundrić said in Nis that over the next five to seven years into Serbian electroenergetics will be invested nine billion Euros and it would be the most creative period of development in the last 30 years. The value of the investments in the first phase of construction TS "Nis 8" amounted to two million Euros."In the construction of new capacities will be invested five, and in the reconstruction of the existing four billion Euros," said Minister Škundrić while opening substations TS 110/10 xv "Nis 8» in the settlement of "Ledena Stena", Palilula. He noted that in these were not included the investments in renewable energy. Minister Škundrić estimated that the Electric Power Industry of Serbia in the best possible way fulfills its mission and that during the last year it achieved a growth of three percent and that in the first quarter this growth in electricity is two percent.

LANDSLIDE IN SUVI DO

People living in Suvi Do settlement, Palilula Municipality, particularly those who live in Vukadina Kocica street from no 15-19 asked for help of authorities in charge and city institutions aiming at sanitation of landslide area that has endangered their residential objects.For the rich precipitation it came to the damaging of supporting wall and the incidence of landslide of the terrain which provoked the appearance of cracks on the walls of the houses. The president of the Municipality Prof. dr Igor Novakovic and Zorica Stojiljkovic, Municipal councilor, visited this area. During this visit they took closer view of the sight and the state of these objects. Public utility enterprise Directorate for city land development and City of Nis authorities in charge for this matter were also informed about the situation in Suvi Do.

PALILULA NIGHT - THE TRADITION CONTINUES

Traditional manifestation `Palilula Night`, organized every year within the programme of Nis City Saint Day – St Emperor Constantine and St Helen Day, will be held on Thursday June 3 2010. This was decided by the Board for the celebration that was presided by Bojan Ilic, head of Palilula Administration (in the absence of the Board`s president – Milan Djurdjevic, president of Palilula Assembly). This year brings also the task for thw Board, made of the representatives of the Municipality, institutions, organizations and individuals from Palilula, to literally design the programme of this unique manifestation. During this meeting it was agreed that the programme for Palilula Night would be organized in the area of Vojvode Gojka, Episkopska and Bozidarceva streets and that the central celebration spot would be on the very Palilula railway crossroad.

PALILULA AT REAL ESTATE AND INVESTMENTS FAIR

Under the sponsorship of the City of Nis and Palilula and Pantelej Municipalities, on April 9 and 10 in the hall of Serbian Army Club in Nis, the first Fair of real estates and investments was organized. This exhibition event, which brought together 20 exhibitors, including five Nis public companies and two City municipalities, was organized Nis company - City marketing center. Mayor of Nis, Milos Simonovic, at the opening of the fair said that this two-day business event could become a tradition since it successfully promotes offers and possibilities of the City of Nis in the field of real estate and investments. Palilula Municipality on its stand presented the activities of the Center for Entrepreneurship (www.palilulamsp.eu), which is a result of the project funded by the Government of Denmark.

MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR VICTIMS OF APRIL 1941 NIS BOMBING

Under the auspices of Palilula Municipality, Citizens' Association "Old Nis", the association that takes care of the preservation of tradition and heritage of Nis, held, according to tradition, at the Old Cemetery Nis `Gorica` Memorial service to the victims of bombing of Nis in the Second World War – April 8 1941. On this occasion, Nikola G. Jovanovic, President of "Old Nis, Prof. dr Igor Novakovic, Palilula president and the delegation of the Association of the descendants of soldiers, put flowers and wreaths at the memorial place of the victims of the bombing. The memories of the bombing 69 years ago Nis were also evoked during this occasion. That day, in a destructive actions of fascist Germany, after the heavy bombing of mostly civilians in the ruins the bodies of about 400 killed people were found and more than 500 people were injured.

INTEGRATION OF ROMA MINORITY IN DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY

On the occasion of April 8 - International Day of Roma, Palilula Municipality president sent a congratulatory message to all the members of this ethnic minority. `Our municipality, one of five organizations of local self-government of the City of Nis, is responsible for full integration of Roma in society` - said Prof. dr Igor Novakovic. `We are doing everything within our powers to help erasing prejudices in employment, education of Roma children, health care and solving housing problems, to have, in one word - no discrimination on any grounds. Still, most families of Roma population live in unhygienic conditions, on the outskirts of towns` - Novakovic said.

EUROPEAN DAYS IN NIS SUPPORTED BY PALILULA

Sponsor of the event for celebrating European Days in Nis, organized this year by French Cultural Centre – Nis,  will be Palilula Municipality. This was announced by the director of the Center, Helene Emery and Prof. dr Igor Novajković, president of Palilula Municipality, after an agreement on cooperation program. "Days of Europe in Nis will be held in the hall of the Cultural Centre of Nis May 7 - 9 2010, in the cooperation with City organizations and institutions. The selection of content and details of this programme implementation is in progress. European Day has been celebrated from May 9 1986 on like a memory of  1950 when the adoption of the Declaration, which was proposed by the then French Foreign Minister Robert Schuman when it was adopted. The story of the EU, since the Schuman Declaration and six countries of the European Union from 1950 to 2007, includes its expansion and 27 countries. Today, the EU covers almost the entire continent and represents the interests of European citizens in modern globalized world.
